Das kalifornische Trio Cheekface ist so erprobt wie erfolgreich darin, das Entsetzliche in lustige Phrasen zu verpacken: «Are you using frozen food as medical first aid?», fragt Greg Katz etwa im titelgebenden Song «Living Lo-Fi». Sein Sprechgesang, der stets ein wenig an They Might Be Giants und die B-52’s erinnert, nimmt sich selbst und die Welt nicht allzu ernst, dies aber auf höchstem Niveau. Wir widmen uns in dieser Ausgabe (u.a.) Cheekface und ihrem neuen Album «Middle Spoon».
