Bereits zum zehnten Mal dreht sich Golden Glades im Zyklus der musikalischen Jahresuhr: ein Lied zu jedem Monat, eine Ode zu jeder Jahreszeit. Wir erleben im Schnelldurchlauf, wie die Erde auf ihrem Weg um die Sonne etwa 940 Millionen Kilometer zurücklegt und begegnen dabei so unterschiedlichen Zeitgenossen wie Avey Tare, The Durutti Column und Brent Cash.

Monodramen & Alleinunterhaltende

Heute widmen wir uns einer besonderen Spezies Musikschaffender: den Alleinunterhaltern. Bei ihnen liegen für gewöhnlich sämtliche Produktionsschritte in einer Hand, vom Songwriting über die Instrumentierung und Produktion bis hin zum Coverdesign. Mitunter erstaunlich, wie die einzelne Person es hinbekommt, einen tadellos kompakten Bandsound zu kreieren – und das nicht erst, seit Computerprogramme das Aufnehmen von Musik in den heimischen vier Wänden erleichtern.

Trip Down Memory Lane

Kaum ein vernünftiger Mensch wird bestreiten, dass die Popmusik der 1960er Jahre äußerst offen und experimentierfreudig war – und dass sich diese Haltung in einigen der besten Platten aller Zeiten niedergeschlagen hat, üppig instrumentiert und reich an Melodien. Heute wird sowohl in Sachen Soundästhetik als auch in der Harmonieführung wieder gern auf die Sixties Bezug genommen. Neue Platten u.a. von Brent Cash, The Proper Ornaments und CaStLeS zeigen auf ganz unterschiedliche Weise, wie sich das goldene Zeitalter in der zeitgenössischen Popmusik manifestiert.
