Street-Level Superstar

Exzentrische Berühmtheiten gibt es viele. Der größte Popstar jedoch, dessen Karriere nie richtig zündete, dieser Titel gebührt dem englischen Musiker Lawrence (er möchte nur bei seinem Vornamen genannt werden). Um den ehemaligen Leadsänger der kultisch verehrten Band Felt ranken sich seit Jahrzehnten Gerüchte: er würde sich etwa nur von Lakritze ernähren, und niemand habe jemals seine Toilette benutzen dürfen.

Der britische Journalist Will Hodgkinson hat den Sonderling ein Jahr lang begleitet und ein vielschichtiges Porträt gezeichnet: «Street-Level Superstar, a year with Lawrence» heißt das Buch und zeigt uns den Musiker als hochkomplizierte, aber auch liebenswürdige Person. Golden Glades nutzt die Gelegenheit, um sich dem wechselhaften Werdegang von Lawrence zu widmen.
