Dies behauptet das Damen-Quartett Galore aus Los Angeles über sich selbst, und tatsächlich lässt sich spüren, wie der Spaß in jeder Pore seines DIY-Pop steckt. Der zweite Galore-Longplayer „Dirt“ erfreut mit mehrstimmigen Gesangsharmonien und der Vielseitigkeit von vier Songwriterinnen. Q: Warum summt die Biene?

Umgangssprachlich bezeichnet «buzz» im Englischen etwas Aufregendes oder Cooles. Eine Band zum Beispiel, die verspricht, den nächsten Hype auszulösen. Von solchen Superlativen halten wir uns getrost fern und gehen auf das ursprüngliche «buzz» zurück, das freundliche Summen der Bienen. Denn zwei entsprechende Platten stehen in der heutigen Sommerausgabe bei Golden Glades im Fokus:

Wild Honey hat mit «Ruinas Futuras» ein bezauberndes Album geschaffen, in welches sich angenehm aus dem Alltag abtauchen lässt. Der schwerelos zarte Gesang des Spaniers Guillermo Farré wird umspielt von einer zurückgenommenen Instrumentierung und wohldosierten Arrangements. Wild Honey nimmt uns mit auf eine Reise, die über Madrid zu den Beach Boys und bis nach Neuseeland führt.

Aus Melbourne kommt der Garten- und Bienenfreund Winter McQuinn. Eigentlich ist er Frontmann der Gruppe Sunfruits, doch während des Lockdowns hat er in Heimarbeit ein recht lockeres Solodebüt eingespielt. «A Rabble of Bees» beschäftigt sich mit Freundschaften, aber auch mit Umwelt- und Klimafragen und enthält als Beilage zum Vinyl ein Päckchen mit Blumensamen. Während McQuinns Aktionismus sehr zeitgenössisch ist, orientiert sich seine Musik am leicht angestaubten Vintage-Sound.
