Wow, I instantly fell in love with this new song by Francis Macdonald & Harry Pye! Watch out for their promising debüt „Bonjour“ by the end of May on Glasgow’s finest Shoeshine Records. A rich tapestry of lovely sounds and melodies will fill your ears – just what you need in these times:

It looks like Halifax is currently the place to be with its vibrant music scene: there are so many interesting bands and artists to discover. Heaven For Real play a melodic Indierock version with occasionally Pavementesque twists. It’s cleverly and well done.
I’m very surprised this well-crafted and sixties inspired guitar pop has not more supporters: I love every moment of this collection! For me, it’s a best harmonized gem.
Astonishing, what an acoustic guitar, voices and occasionally a trumpet can do: here, it softly stirs emotions. Some of the tracks have a pastoral quality, others are merely sketches. The guitar picking ranges from folk to classical and creates a very pleasant atmosphere.
Wer kann sich noch daran erinnern, an den Glücksmoment der guten alten Wundertüte? Aber nein, die gerollte rauschhafte Mischung ist damit nicht gemeint, sondern die verschlossenen bunten Päckchen für Kinder, in denen sich nebst Süßigkeiten noch einige Überraschungen befinden. In der Ungewissheit steckt das eigentliche Erfolgsgeheimnis, denn zunächst einmal wird mit der Wundertüte die Neugierde geweckt. Auch in der heutigen Ausgabe von Golden Glades wird vorweg nicht verraten was kommt, also: lasst euch überraschen!

Kaum ein vernünftiger Mensch wird bestreiten, dass die Popmusik der 1960er Jahre äußerst offen und experimentierfreudig war – und dass sich diese Haltung in einigen der besten Platten aller Zeiten niedergeschlagen hat, üppig instrumentiert und reich an Melodien. Heute wird sowohl in Sachen Soundästhetik als auch in der Harmonieführung wieder gern auf die Sixties Bezug genommen. Bedächtig aus den Winterwolken rieselnder Schnee hat das Zeug dazu, uns im Nu zu verzaubern. Für die akustische Alltags-Berieselung gilt dies leider nicht, ganz im Gegenteil: Kaufhaus- und Fahrstuhlmusik rauben uns den letzten Nerv. Diese fatale Dichotomie gedenkt Golden Glades heute aufzuheben, mit versöhnlichen mellow tunes, sanft wie Schneeflocken, dabei weitgehend frei von Schmalz und Sülze.
