Ein guter Anfang

Die dramaturgische Grundregel lautet: Du brauchst einen guten Anfang und ein gutes Ende. In der Mitte darf man sich gewisse Nachlässigkeiten erlauben. Folglich haben wir uns für die erste Sendung des Jahres besonders zusammengerissen, konzentriert und fokussiert – und gelangten zu dem Entschluss, in der heutigen Sendung Musik von Broadcast, The Sonics, und Loving mit auf die Playlist zu nehmen.

Das Miracle von Manchester

An Wunder glaubt er zwar nicht – aber die stille Hoffnung, die hat ihn schon einige Male über schwierige Zeiten hinaus gerettet. Es sind persönliche Songs, die der Brite Francis Lung auf seinem zweiten Solowerk «Miracle» präsentiert. Fast im Alleingang hat er es eingespielt, hauptsächlich mit Gitarre, Bass, Schlagzeug und Klavier. Beeindruckend, wie spannungsreich Lungs Musik ist und wie mühelos sie auf das Pop-Handwerk der 60er und 70er Jahre zurückgreift. «Miracle» ist ein nachdenkliches Album, zugleich aber auch hymnisch und vor allem lebensbejahend.

Nachdem kürzlich das Thema Kunst und Popmusik bei Golden Glades unter der Lupe schmorte, steht heute die Literatur im Fokus. Allerhand belesene Songschreiber offenbaren, aus welchem Bücherfundus sie sich bedient haben. Im Kern geht es um die aktuellen Werke von Almut Klotz, Kate Tempest, Patti Smith & John Darnielle – vier AutorInnen, die zeigen, dass ein Doppelleben in Musik & Literatur möglich und sinnvoll sein kann.
